Accessibility Statement
Last updated
Demo notice: This is a preview site. This statement describes the standard we build to; the final statement will name a real contact method before launch.
The Local Vets is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Caring for a neighbor's pet means caring for the neighbor, and that starts with a website nobody is locked out of.
What standard do we hold ourselves to?
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, hearing, cognitive, and motor impairments.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML structure with clear landmarks and a logical heading order.
- A "Skip to main content" link as the first item you reach with a keyboard.
- Every image carries descriptive alternative text, or is marked decorative so screen readers skip it.
- Every form field has a label, and the waitlist form is fully keyboard-operable.
- A clearly visible focus outline on every link, button, and field.
- Color combinations chosen to meet AA contrast ratios for text.
- The site works without JavaScript and reflows cleanly down to small screens.
Known limitations
This is a preview site and is still evolving. Photography and copy are placeholders, and some content will change before launch. If something here is hard to use, we want to hear about it.
How do I report an accessibility barrier?
If any part of this site is difficult to use, please tell us and we will fix it. Reach us through @thelocalvets. A dedicated accessibility contact email and phone number will be published before the practice opens.
We aim to respond to accessibility reports within five business days.
